What's the difference?
Selecting a contractor is an agonizing decision for many people, especially when starting from scratch. You’re about to make an investment in your home. Here are a few bullet points that may help you make a wise decision.

The Master’s Hand

Company: In business since 2003; experienced and skilled craftsmen; licensed and insured for business, vehicle, and workers compensation. Owner-operated, which means YOU deal with the owner. License #s PA 055376, PHILA 33487.

Employees: Company trained, drug free employees, not subcontractors or cheap unskilled (possibly illegal) labor. Many contractors use this type of labor because it is CHEAP. They usually hack up finish work because they need to finish and get paid (subs), or they just aren’t capable of the job.

Scheduling: We work together with our clients to accommodate your schedule. Although every job is different and unpredictable, we try to give you accurate assessments of when will we start, how long the job will take, and try to update you as to what we will do each day. For 99% of our projects, we work every weekday until your job is done.

Pricing: We provide an upfront estimate and proposal. Our goal is to be fair, not to be the lowest. Unfortunately, many “low-bid” contractors cut every corner to get prices low, which not only will result in low quality work, but unsafe conditions, questionable employees and nonexistent credentials. These companies typically bid low only to “discover” additional work as the job progresses. On the other hand, heavily advertised companies with company cars, a sales force, and overhead, are forced to charge up to 30-40% higher to cover commissions, advertising, and secretaries.

Billing: Small deposit upfront, installment if necessary, final payment when you are satisfied.

Communication: Cell phone directly to owner; email 24 hours a day – answered promptly.

Clean-up: We maintain your house at least as clean as we found it – usually cleaner!

References: We can provide references, many of whom have been clients for many years, which will vouch for the
quality and character of The Master’s Hand.

Workmanship warranty: Moldings – lifetime (not on finish); cabinetry projects 5 years. We stand by our work and are willing to fix mechanical or cosmetic issues that appear within the first year free of charge.
